Conversations to Connect Us
From Theresa Alessandro
A dizzying variety of conversations are coming up in the podcast over the next few weeks. When Carol and I talked, in this week’s episode, I called her faith journey ‘iconic’ because there is just so much in it that I felt would connect with others. Carol described how her ideas have moved on some issues over time. Her faith has grown through some really tough experiences and she finds herself grateful for that growth despite the awfulness that brought it about. To her surprise, having believed the rosary was not for her, she has finally come to appreciate it, at least in one particular context.
Next week, the pod guests are two members of a parish in the Leeds diocese. We’re talking about the things that help a parish and its members to thrive. I’ve wanted to try and bring a parish to life in a pod episode for ages so it was good to meet with Fr Michael and Fiona. I’m wondering if listeners would like to hear from more parishes next year? Let me know in the comments what you think about that.
Christmas Eve is a Wednesday – new episode day - so of course there is a special episode coming up then, with two thoughtful guests talking about angels - and some beautiful carols.
We will all be spending Christmas in different ways. I hope this episode will give each of us something we need.
New Year’s Eve is a Wednesday too. That special episode has a focus on peace, ready for the Church’s World Day of Peace on 1st January.
Diligent listeners will remember last year’s Epiphany episode, ‘Three Wise Women’. You might think that was hard to beat but the Holy Spirit has helped me so an amazing special Epiphany episode is coming up this year – and it will be released early, on Tuesday 6th January – to coincide with the feast day.
Does anyone come to mind who might appreciate listening to the podcast? Go ahead and share it with them!
All Kinds of Catholic content will remain free for everyone. ‘Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters; and you that have no money, come, buy and eat!’ Isaiah 55:1. If you are in a position to support and encourage this mission with a regular paid subscription, that would be immensely valuable though.
